1863 Left! 10 Fried Kroger Wings (Cold)

I wasn’t feeling to well on Saturday morning, so I thought I would run to Kroger and grab some soup. Of course, I gravitated over to the deli to see what they had to offer. I found some chicken wings on manager special. They are usually 10 for $6.99, but these were marked down to $4.19. Yes, of course I grabbed some. They were going to be my test later on that night to see how my stomach was doing. As the night progressed, I decided to test the waters and try a couple. Then I ate the rest. End of story. I bought them cold, and they were fried and Unsauced. They had this sweetness to them that I can describe. It must be something in the fry batter, but it was pretty good. Even though I bought them cold (and probably more than 24 hours after they were fried), I could still tell that they were cooked well. Good stuff, and 10 more closer to hitting the goal.
Thanks, and good eating!!

2053 Left! 10 Plain Bone In Wings from Kroger

This one is going to be short and sweet. I went by Kroger the other day and decided to pick up some cold wings. These are the same wings I had about a week ago. They seemed really salty this time, but other than that, not too shabby. 10 more down!
Thanks, and good eating!!

2078 Left! 11 Plain Bone in Breaded Wings from Kroger

So I went to Kroger after a round of golf on Sunday to grab a few things. Whenever I am at Kroger and starving, the smell of fresh fried chicken goes straight to my belly. As I walk over to investigate, I find freshly fried wings. I bought 10 but got 11. My lucky day. I scarfed these suckers down quick. Maybe it’s because I was so hungry, but these things were good today. Greasy, slightly crunchy, and well cooked wings are always the way to go after being out in the sun. I was greatly satisfied.
Thanks, and good eating!!

2625 to Go! 20 Plain, Breaded, and Fried Wings from Kroger

Well, I know I am way behind on this post. It was last Thursday night and I went to Kroger. I was grabbing a few things for the house, and still hadn’t eaten anything for dinner. So there I was, staring at a chicken wing party tray. I looked for any other type of wings, even contemplating the deep frozen ones. You know, the ones you would have to thaw out and then cook. Yeah, I was hungry and it was already 7pm. This tray was mine.

Since it was three days ago, I am not going to rate them, but I do remember a few things about them. There were 20 wings, some celery, and a cup of ranch, all for $14.99. The ranch needed help, so I added some cayenne pepper and paprika. The wings were cold when I bought them, so I didn’t heat them up. I try to always eat them as they come. I remember them being fried, breaded, and extremely plain. So much so that I almost gave up on eating them completely. The breaded turned soggy, the wings were cold, and there was no flavor at all. Tough batch, but I finished all 20.

Well, that’s it for now.

Thanks, and good eating!!

2662 to Go! 10 Kroger Baked and Breaded Wings

I am sure everyone is wondering what wings I had for the super bowl. I went cheap and easy. We were going to my buddies house and he had quite the spread lined up, so I decided to pick some up at Kroger while buying supplies.

I bought the wings at $4.99, which came out to $0.50 a wing. They were lightly breaded and baked. Not too bad. They were small, so knocking down 10 was no problem at all. They had a pretty good flavor, just chicken and a little salt and pepper. Baking always brings out the sweeter side in chicken, so these had a slightly naturally sweet flavor. They were not spicy, and had very soft texture (which is very common in baked wings). Here is how they rate:

Flavor/Taste: 2 Stars

Size: 1.5 Stars

Price: 3.5 Stars

Texture: 2 Stars

Heat Level: 1 Star

Overall: 2 Stars

Not a bad little wing for $0.50. Yeah they were small, but they are a healthier option, and you can add any sauce you want. The fact that they are cheap, small, and a healthier option make them a for sure bet I will have them again. Maybe I will dip them or toss them in a buffalo sauce next time.

Thanks, and good eating!!

2729 to Go! 20 Kroger Breaded and Fried wings

You know what they say about shopping when you’re hungry: don’t do it. I fell victim to this while shopping yesterday. A busy day at work and not eating anything leads to a wing binge. I saw a bucket and didn’t think twice.

The ones they had available were the plain breaded and fried wings. There is nothing extremely special about these, except for their simplicity. They are cooked well and have a very nice, crunchy texture. The only flavor is a simple salt and pepper mix. The oil they fry it in, my guess is canola, gives it a hearty flavor. The wings were on special at $9.99, which comes to $0.50 a wing. Buying from Kroger has its advantages because the wings are small, which means I can eat more. There was no spicy flavor at all. Here is their rating:

Flavor/Taste: 2 Stars

Size: 2 Stars

Price: 3 Stars

Texture: 3.5 Stars

Heat Level: 1 Star

Overall: 2.5 Stars

Sometimes it’s good to have a very basic wing so that you can taste more of the chicken flavor. Plus, you can do anything you want to these. I added some of my Trappeys hot sauce to the last few. I appreciate that.

Thanks, and good eating!!

2862 to Go! 10 Kroger Buffalo Wings

This past Saturday I went to Kroger to stock up with food and such for the Packers/Cowboys game on Sunday. While I was shopping, I decided to pick up Kroger’s Buffalo Wings. I have had them before so I knew what I was getting in to. I waited until this past Tuesday night to eat them. Sorry for the delay in the post.

Kroger often puts out chicken dishes, including their wings. Sometimes they are hot, and sometimes they are served refrigerated. I bought the ones that were already refrigerated, so I decided to eat them cold. I couldn’t tell if they were fried or baked, but I am assuming fried. They were tossed in a buffalo sauce that tasted like a very generic sauce. The wings were a good size for Kroger. I remember them being much smaller, and cheaper. I got 10 wings for a total of $6.99, or about $0.70 per wing. Here is how I rate them:

Flavor/Taste: 2.5 Stars

Size: 2.5 Stars

Price: 2.5 Stars

Texture: 2 Stars

Heat Level: 2 Stars

Overall: 2.5 Stars

Sorry for the short post. I ate these 2 nights ago and don’t remember too much about them. So, I went to Kroger last night and bought some more so that I can give a more detailed post. Look for that in the next few days.

Thanks, and good eating!!
